12 Days | Day 2 - Christmas Cards

Hi everyone, the 2nd day of the 12 Day of Melus is here. Thank you for stopping by!

In today's post I will be making Christmas Cards. This may require tools that you may not have or use, but I will be sharing some quick tips to recreate similar cards.

Two sizes are included in this make, the smaller card is half the size of the bigger card.

Top Folding Card (A6 Size)

Take your A4 White Card (300+gsm) and cut this down to a top folding card. I am using A4 card, which I have scored in half width-ways and then measured in the again, so you split the card into two.

If that sounds complicated - measure the shorter end and mark the halfway point, then use your guillotine to cut down length-ways. You can then score the long piece in half to make a top folding card

Measure out a panel from the kraft cardstock that is smaller than the card front. My panel is between 0.3cm to 0.5cm from the edge.

Take your paper pad measure 0.5cm from the edge of the kraft cardstock panel and cut this out. the inside panel will be smaller than the last

Take the Simon Says Stamp Scripty Sentiments and stamp with the Versafine Black Ink on to white cardstock

For heat embossing: Stamp one of the sentiments using Versamark ink, (please do use the powder tool first for static erase!) onto white card stock and then sprinkle gold or silver embossing powder. You can melt the embossing powder with the heat gun

Die cut the sentiment when dry with the Spellbinders Label 9 / XCut Parenthesis / XCut Everyday Tags die and place 3D foam square / tape on the back of the sentiment.

Place double sided tape on the panels to stick together (below)

Place the sentiment with double sided 3D foam tape on the card

The finished card should be a simple Christmas Card similar to the picture below:

(different patterned paper from the same pad have been used)

Smaller Card

All the steps before are taken - everything is just done in half.

The sentiments are the normal size on the card. I did make sure the sentiment fitted the card before sticking

Quick Tips

If you don't have a Christmas themed Paper Pad, use Christmas wrapping paper and cut this down the same as you would the paper. Use scissors if you do not have paper guillotine or paper cutter

If you do not own stamps to ink up or a stamp pad. Use a computer and printer to print out Christmas sentiments or search on Pinterest for 'Free Christmas Printables'. Print and cut - using these sentiments instead of stamps.

You can use coloured card instead of white or kraft stock

Pre-made, pre-scored card can be used instead of A4 paper.

All equipment for the Pro Crafter can be swapped for other things. If you're stuck for alternatives - please do leave a comment below!

Happy Card Making everyone! Next post for 12 Days is Sunday 1st November

So until then - Happy Crafting!
